Belgrade, Serbia; April 15, 2016: Construction has begun on Kula Belgrade, the highest hotel and residential building in Belgrade Waterfront and Serbia, the master-planned community situated along the Sava River in Belgrade. A ground-breaking ceremony held today marked the occasion, with the attendance of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and Eagle Hills’ Board member Mr. Mohamed Alabbar.
Kula Belgrade (Belgrade Tower in English) is approximately 40-storey and over 160 metre high tower overlooking the Sava River and its bridges including the monumental Ada bridge, the Kalemegdan Fortress, the Sava and Danube confluence, as well as a breath-taking panoramic view of the capital. Designed by internationally recognized design firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Global (SOM), the tower is set to bring a whole new concept of urban engineering to the construction sector, providing an unprecedented architectural benchmark for property developers in the region.
Combining residential, commercial, hotel, entertainment and leisure outlets, the mixed-use landmark will create a whole new urban space with an open public plaza surrounding it, where celebrations and events will take place, boasting many family-friendly attractions. Upon its completion, it will add a must-see attraction to the city: an observation deck at the top of the tower, the city’s only public observatory at this height, offering panoramic views of Belgrade.
The St. Regis Belgrade will occupy the first nine floors of Kula Belgrade and will offer 125 rooms and suites looking out to the city or River Sava. The hotel will feature a destination restaurant at the top of the tower with panoramic views, all-day dining restaurant, St. Regis Bar, spa, pool, gymnasium, and event and meeting space for special celebrations. Combining classic sophistication with a modern sensibility, St. Regis is committed to delivering exceptional experiences at over 35 luxury hotels and resorts in the best addresses around the world. The St. Regis Belgrade will introduce the brand’s bespoke hospitality and signature St. Regis Butler Service into Serbia and Belgrade, raising the benchmark for luxury hotel accommodation in the country.
Nikola Nedeljkovic, General Manager of Belgrade Waterfront, said: “We are very proud to be able to work with one of the world’s most iconic designers, SOM, in realizing this ambitious project. Furthermore, the collaboration with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. to house the renowned St. Regis brand within Kula Belgrade is the result of this shared vision to create a unique destination in the heart of Belgrade, which will amongst many benefits, attract more tourists to our city. This will spur overall growth in economic activity and set Serbia as an even more attractive destination.”
Set centrally in a prime location within Belgrade Waterfront, Kula Belgrade residences will offer stunning views of the waterfront. When completed, Belgrade Waterfront, an integrated master-planned community, will comprise commercial hubs, hotels, educational institutions, healthcare amenities as well as a 1.8 kilometre long public waterfront edge and parks featuring leisure attractions. Belgrade Waterfront will also feature a Cultural District and Historic Plaza, further making the city a cultural and artistic destination.
