On the occasion of completion of construction works on the only sixth St. Regis hotel in Europe, Belgrade Waterfront officially “handed over the keys” to Marriott International, which will open the hotel’s doors to guests and visitors in October.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, along with Eagle Hills Chairman Mohamed Alabbar, Belgrade Waterfront’s General Manager Zorana Burlic, General Manager of The St. Regis Belgrade Hotel Marc De Ruijter and the Deputy Prime Minister Sinisa Mali, toured the Wine Bar, Lobby, one of the hotel’s luxuriously furnished suites, and explored its numerous exclusive amenities, such as the swimming pool, SPA, gym, and meeting rooms.
At the handover ceremony of the hotel, which will occupy the first 11 floors of the tallest building in Serbia and the region, Mohamed Alabbar emphasized that Belgrade Waterfront is opening a new, exciting chapter in its history, similar to the illustrious history of the renowned New York hotel brand.
“The building in which the St. Regis Belgrade is located, the monumental Kula Belgrade, is not just a collection of steel and glass. It is much more than that. It is a testament to ambition, creativity, dedication, it is a monument that symbolically tells the world world that Serbia has arrived and with which Serbia invites the world to meet it”, emphasized the Chairman of Eagle Hills.
President Vucic highlighted that the opening of The St. Regis Belgrade presents a significant development opportunity for Serbia and will further strengthen its tourism potential in preparation for the major international exhibition EXPO 2027.
“I am proud of the fact that in this hotel alone, as many as 200 young people from Serbia will be employed. The opening of the hotel will undoubtedly stimulate the further growth of our economy, create new jobs in our country, and Belgrade Waterfront will continue to develop and be a pride of all Serbian citizens”, he stated.
Marc De Ruijter, General Manager of The St. Regis Belgrade, expressed his excitement about the grand opening of the first St. Regis hotel in the region in October and emphasized that it will reflect the perfect synergy between innovation and Serbia’s growing role as a cultural and economic hub.
St. Regis is the most luxurious brand in Marriott International’s portfolio, with a long history and rich heritage. It is known for selecting only the most prestigious locations worldwide for its hotels. Its arrival not only means significant recognition for Serbia but also proves that Belgrade Waterfront has become a world-class destination that will attract an increasing number of global travelers in the future.
