Belgrade Waterfront donates tree seedlings to the new Belgrade Bus Station

The planting of more than 60 adult tree seedlings that Belgrade Waterfront donated to the Belgrade Bus Station (BAS) is underway in Block 42 in New Belgrade. The Dutch Elm trees will beautify the new bus interchange and contribute to better air quality, and the planting is done in cooperation with the public utility company „Zelenilo Beograd“.

Belgrade Waterfront has been dedicately working for years on the greening of the right Sava riverbank, from the Branko’s Bridge to the Gazela, as well as on the landscaping of all public areas along it, and now this action of taking care of the environment is being extended to the other side of the river.

„We are very happy and proud that we have the opportunity to not only welcome the new Belgrade Bus Station by donating trees, but also directly contribute to its beautification and greening. One of important aspects of Belgrade Waterfront’s development is the greening of public areas and therefore we are glad that we will ’sow this seed’ at a place from which numerous travellers and tourists will set out to discover all the beauties of our capital“, said Zorana Burlic, General Manager of Belgrade Waterfront.

So far, more than 2,000 tree seedlings have been planted in Belgrade Waterfront. The canopy of more than 300 trees provides shade on Sava Square, while in Sava Park there are more than 140 trees of decorative cherries, ornamental apples and other varieties. Along all the streets in the development, as well as on Sava Promenada, there are rows of maple, hornbeam, willow and other sorts, while great attention is also paid to the greenery in the planters. The different types of flowers and other plants are in them change at least four times a year, in accordance with the current season.

Belgrade Waterfront is also working on the restoration of the long-neglected St. Nicholas Park next to the Bristol Hotel. On its surface, after the completion of the reconstruction, about 200 new adult trees of autochthonous species from our climate will be planted, such as maple, sycamore or oak, and the park will be decorated with self-sustaining lawns and bushes of various heights.
