We bring you the recipe for a happy and fullfilling life in heart of Savamala

I was 19 years old when I entered the faculty in Belgrade full of optimism. I shaped my youth and created the most beautiful memories in a small student apartment on the outskirt of Savamala. And although life later took me far from my beloved city, nostalgia never left me. Now, after years spent abroad, it is time to return to where I always wanted to be. This time with my family.

The real challenge was to find a new home in a big city, tailored to the family and children who have their own needs. For me and my husband, it meant an apartment in the city centre, close to a school, kindergarten, sports centre, parks and a short commute to work. Eventually, we came to the ideal solution – BW Alegra residential building in Belgrade Waterfront, which, almost like fate, brought us back to where it all began, in the heart of Savamala, where we want to have a peaceful, harmonious and fulfilling family life.

An oasis of a family peace

Tucked away between the St. Nicholas Park, where as many as 200 new trees will be planted, and the Sava Square, which will soon become the new cultural and educational centre of the city, BW Alegra offers a perfect sense of peace and harmony in the midst of the city’s hustle and bustle. As soon as we saw where the building was located and what was nearby, we immediately knew that we would build a family nest there.

The eldest daughter will become a first-grader next year, so we were very happy with the news that the state-of-the-art public primary school, located practically in our neighborhood, in the hinterland of Sava Square, will start working at that time. The very fact that she will be able to reach it even by herself, on foot, makes us calm. There will also be a mini botanical garden in the school, where students will be able to study Pancic’s spruce, redwood, Chilean pine or Japanese maple, so we are sure they will fall in love with biology.

It is a special relief that her younger siblings will also go to the public kindergarten, situated right next to the school, within the most modern educational campus in Serbia. The spacious yard is surrounded by greenery on all sides and features slides, swings and other props for the happy and carefree upbringing of the little ones.

When the classes are over, we can take the kids to the nearby Archeological museum in the Old Post Office building or the Historical Museum of Serbia in the building of the former Main Railway Station, in order to encourage them from an early age to constantly acquire extracurricular knowledge.

Priceless moments together

As my husband and I pay a lot of attention to our physical appearance, we are delighted that we will be able to train in the shade of the St. Nicholas park, a new green oasis in the city centre, which we can reach in less than a minute. We need just a little more than that to reach the most modern sports centre in the hinterland of Sava Square on foot.

An indoor pool, a spa centre, a state-of-the-art gym, a cafe and special facilities for children’s sports activities and recreation – all that awaits us in one place in the neighborhood. The great thing is that we don’t have to get in the car – just step out of the building and we are in the dressing room in no time.

A little further away is the Sava Park with numerous trees, lawns, sports fields and children’s playgrounds. It will be a real „sweet pain“ where we will spread the picnic blankets – whether close to the Bristol Hotel or here, in a green oasis on an area of as many as four football fields.

As we are all also big fans of cycling, we are happy that the Sava Promenada, with its bicycle track from the Sports Centre „25th May“ to Ada Ciganlija, is nearby. Belgrade’s favorite esplanade features many other facilities, among which we particularly highlight the cafes and restaurants dotted along the entire right bank of the river. We have already envisioned ourselves enjoying the rich gastronomic offer with a beautiful view of the sunset over the Sava.

A leisurely evening stroll along the Promenada, riding a bike or rollerblade can easily turn into shopping or going to the cinema. It only takes a few minutes of walking to reach the Galerija, the biggest shopping mall in the region, which contains everything we need for fun and enjoyment.

The city within the reach of the hand

Living near key roads, such as Savska or Karadjordjeva Street, makes it much easier for us to get to and from work. Next to our building, behind Sava Square, there is the main metro station where the first two underground lines will cross, so that in just a few minutes we will be wherever we want to be in Belgrade. The construction of an underground garage with more than 400 spaces is starting under the St. Nicholas Park, so we don’t have to worry about car parking. Everything tells us that BW Alegra is our happy place.
