The chronic lack of parking spaces in Belgrade is one of the biggest challenges the Serbian capital faces. Searching for a free parking spot in the city center can turn into quite an adventure, certainly not a pleasant one, and often becomes futile.
Belgrade Waterfront has been actively working to increase the number of parking spaces for years, aiming to make the experience of staying in Serbia’s most dynamic neighborhood as enjoyable and stress-free as possible for those arriving by car.
Parking along the Streets
Thanks to the complete renovation of the traffic infrastructure on the right bank of the Sava River, many streets have been built with a large number of parking spaces, located either on the side along the sidewalks or in the middle of streets with two lanes. Wherever you find yourself, you can be sure that you will find a designated parking spot for your vehicle quickly.
Between the newly built Street of Ideas under the Gazela Bridge and Lozionica, soon to become a regional center for the creative industries, there is another spacious public parking lot, managed by PUC “Parking Service” Belgrade. There’s no doubt that traffic in this part of the city, whose beauty is slowly being unveiled, will be further relieved and made more accessible.
Stress-Free Shopping
When going shopping, the common question arises: “Where do I leave the car?” However, this dilemma doesn’t exist when it comes to Belgrade Waterfront, specifically the largest shopping mall in the region.
Galerija has two parking garages. The outdoor garage, which faces the Gazela Bridge, has six levels and offers 1,200 parking spaces, while the indoor garage spreads across two underground levels, bringing the total number of parking spots to 3,600. The first three hours of parking in both garages are free for visitors. The parking facilities are open daily from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
Near Galerija, on the other side of the Gazela Bridge, in the area that will soon house the Nikola Tesla Museum, the new, modern market with a green roof will be built. This market will quickly become a popular destination for food lovers and a new city attraction. Before diving into shopping for fresh produce, visitors can park their cars in the two-level garage which offers a total of 192 parking spaces.
Plans for the Future
As part of the upcoming reconstruction of St. Nicholas Park near the Bristol Hotel, Belgrade Waterfront plans to build a large public garage in the underground section of the park. The garage will have two levels and nearly 420 parking spaces. Once constructed, the garage, with a gross area of almost 18,000 square meters, will be handed over to the management of PUC “Parking Service” Belgrade. It will also include parking spaces for people with disabilities.
The garage will be seamlessly integrated into the park’s modern design, with two entrances/exits for vehicles and chargers for electric cars. Additionally, there will be an underground pedestrian passage with an elevator.
Belgrade Waterfront, as the neighborhood with the best sustainable traffic solutions and excellent connections to the rest of the city, will continue to effectively address the chronic lack of parking spaces in the city to ensure that staying in the beautiful Serbian capital is as pleasant and relaxing as possible.
