BW Educational Campus – a place of learning, growth, laughter and play

With a formal groundbreaking ceremony in Belgrade Waterfront, the construction of educational campus, comprising a public kindergarten and school, has recently started. A time capsule containing messages for future generations was placed in the foundation. Before exploring the details of this educational centre and learning about the opportunities it holds for future students, let’s take a journey through time and enjoy a short, interesting story about the history of schooling in Serbia’s capital.

Do you know when and how the first primary school in Belgrade was founded? At the beginning of the 18th century, next to the Saborna Church, within the Metropolitan’s court, a small Greek school was opened, attended by the children of Greek merchants. After the arrival of the Austrians, the Greeks moved out, and the school lost its function. To prevent its closure, Metropolitan Mojsije Petrović hired a Greek named Gerasim in 1718 to teach Serbian children, considered the founding year of the first Serbian primary school.

Three centuries later and just about two kilometers away, the construction of the most modern Educational Campus officially began behind Sava Square, transforming learning and enhancing the quality of life’s most beautiful period.

A Kindergarten for Healthy Growth

As children start learning at a young age, when the time comes to enroll your little ones in kindergarten, we have great news— you won’t have to worry about making the right choice. Not only will you be satisfied with the conditions, but the children will also eagerly wait for you to drop them off every morning. Friends will welcome them in specially equipped rooms. All rooms are designed as individual “houses” connected by a circular corridor. Each “house” will have a unique character and shape, creating a pleasant and calm environment tailored to children. They will also have access to the most modern multifunctional hall for social gatherings and performances. This will be a place of laughter, play, and unforgettable moments.

We understand that children enjoy spending time outdoors and that fresh air is important for healthy growth. That’s why they will love the large yard of nearly 1,400 square metres, designed as a spacious children’s playground. It will feature swings, slides, climbing towers, a specially designed playhill, and many other attractions. Not only will they have a great time playing, but their proper growth is also taken into account, so there will be a special area with different tactile surfaces aimed at helping to develop their sensorimotor skills.

The yard will be surrounded by greenery and trees. This natural setting will offer excellent protection and isolation from external noise, creating an oasis of peace and safety for your little ones.

As time flies and children grow up in the blink of an eye, the time will come for you to pack their books and send them off to school. We understand that changes in routine can be challenging and creating new routines can sometimes feel uncomfortable. But what if we told you that you don’t have to change at least one of those routines?

If you have been taking your children to the most modern kindergarten in Belgrade every morning for the past few years, you can continue along the same path for the next eight years. This will make your choice easier and maintain part of your established routine, and your children will make a smooth transition from kindergarten to school. This is just one of the many reasons to enroll your children in the public elementary school in Belgrade Waterfront.

An Inspirational World of Education

By establishing new standards in education, Belgrade Waterfront is dedicated to making learning a joy for children in an inspiring and stimulating environment.

On an area of almost 5,000 square metres, the school will feature state-of-the-art classrooms and specialized labs. Breaks in the yard will be a special delight for the children, thanks to numerous facilities. For years, doctors have warned about the lack of physical activity among children, and Belgrade Waterfront seeks to address this issue by constructing sports fields within the schoolyard. With easy access, children will quickly love sports, significantly contributing to their healthy development.

Raising awareness about the environment and its preservation is also of great importance. Future students will have the opportunity to learn in a “green lab” for biology, which will function as a mini botanical garden. In this green corner, selected species such as sequoia, Chilean pine, Japanese maple, and Pančić spruce will be grown, providing children with a unique experience of learning about nature.

Education doesn’t end when the bell marks the end of the last class. The environment outside the campus is rich with facilities that further contribute to children’s education and entertainment. The nearest neighbor will be the Historical Museum of Serbia, which will be housed in the renovated building of the former Main Railway Station. Next to it, the reconstructed old post office building will house an interactive children’s museum, workshops for kids, and a theater stage, which will especially delight the youngest.
